Polyimide Material Equipment Engineering Case Studies
The client company is primarily engaged in the research, development, production, and sales of polyimide‑related products, which encompass polyimide materials in the forms of films, as well as slurry‑ and coating‑based formulations.
Polyimide is a polymer material, also known as “golden film.” Its applications include photoresists, flexible displays, and flexible printed circuit boards. This material was commercialized in the 1960s by DuPont of the United States. For many years, due to the influence of the Wassenaar Arrangement and the CoCom regime, Western countries imposed restrictions on the export and transfer of this material and related technologies to China.
To address trade barriers and resolve production‑related and technical challenges, the R&D team at Huimai Materials, while keeping raw material costs under control and ensuring product quality, has developed a domestically produced MPI multilayer biaxially oriented film production line by refining synthesis technologies and optimizing manufacturing processes. The resulting production cost is only 10% of that of imported lines. The polyimide film materials manufactured by the client have entered mass production and are now used as base films in domestic lithium‑ion battery and solar cell production.
This project involves the production of polyimide‑related products and utilizes key equipment such as reaction vessels, blending tanks, and storage tanks. Throughout the collaboration, Guangzhou Maiko Machinery Co., Ltd. provided end‑to‑end support, from conceptual design and equipment fabrication to installation, commissioning, and formal production start‑up. The parties completed equipment delivery and acceptance in June 2022, and during the warranty period, the equipment operated in full compliance with specified performance requirements.
